Gilimanuk is a city on the west coast of Bali, 130 kilometers from the airport and the main tourist areas (Gilimanuk on the map). Gilimanuk is not a place to relax at all, there are not even beaches here. But this is the main transit hub on the way from Bali to the island of Java or back, since there is a port connecting the islands with frequent ferry service.

There is no need to stay in Gilimanuk at all. This is an ordinary port city, without tourist infrastructure, entertainment and beaches. In fact, even if you are in transit, there is no need to spend the night here, since ferries run around the clock. Perhaps the reason to stay here is if you come to visit the West Bali National Park West Bali National Park, or if you want to dive on the dive site "Secret Bay".

How to get to Gilimanuk

• By taxi

  

  From Bali airport and Kuta to Gilimanuk drive about 4 hours, the price is about 1,400,000 rupees (77.44 USD) when ordering through the Grab, GoJek, Maxim applications, it is cheaper to arrange a trip in the InDrive application. You shouldn't order a motorcycle taxi, it's too far away. A taxi at a fixed price from the airport or at a contract price with taxi drivers on the street may even be cheaper – from 850,000 rupees (47.02 USD).

• By bus

  

  Gilimanuk is not one of the popular destinations among tourists, and therefore it will not work to get here by tourist shuttle buses, which are sold in travel agencies. At least we did not come across such routes in the schedules of travel agencies. However, you can find buses here online or maybe they will help you buy them from street agencies on request.   If you can't find anything, you can get to the main Mengwi bus station, from there there are regular buses (Mengwi bus station on the map). But it is worth noting that if you want to get to Java through Gilimanuk. It is easier to buy a ready-made ticket for a bus with a ferry crossing right away. There are such buses, at least to Banyuwangi, Yogyakarta, Jakarta.

  If you arrive by ferry from Yalta to Gilimanuk, then there is a bus station right next to the pier. There are direct buses from Mengvi Bus Station in Denpasar from here, but you can also take passing tourist buses to Kuta and other areas. There are also local buses at least to Padang Bai, to Singaraju and Lovina Beach.

  Gilimanuk is the main port for communication with the island of Java, on the other side of the Ketapang Ferry Port in banyuwangi (Gilimanuk port on the map). Slow ferries often run around the clock, there are no "divorced", you can safely buy a ticket and sail. At least that's the experience we've had. The ticket costs about 10,000 rupees (0.55 USD), on the way 30-60 minutes.

  Tickets can be purchased on the official website www.ferizy.com/, tourist www.tiket.com/, or at the cash desk at the port through travel agents in cash, but it will already cost about 20,000 rupees.

There are only a few accommodation options in Gilimanuk, and they are quite expensive for their quality. These are very simple hotels that are suitable only for spending the night in spartan conditions, but not for recreation.
