How to get from Bangkok to Cambodia

Until recently, it was possible to get from Bangkok either only by plane, which is not very budget-friendly, or with bus transfers with a change of transport at the border. Moreover, travel after a change of transport at the border was usually expensive due to the actions of the so-called taxi mafia. Now there are inexpensive ways to get right to the right place in Cambodia from Bangkok by buying a ready-made tourist transfer. Here's more about all the ways to get from Bangkok to Cambodia:

By plane

From two airports in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang there are direct flights to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, to Sihanoukville only with a transfer in Phnom Penh. Budget airlines fly along the route, among other things, but prices for such short flights are still very high, from $ 100, which is very expensive by local standards. By bus

• In Siem Reap

  Previously, moving to Siem Reap from Thailand was associated with numerous divorces at the border with a visa (visa processing at fake border crossings), and the need to use a taxi exclusively to move from Poipet to Siem Reap, since there was no bus due to the actions of the taxi mafia. Now you can purchase a ready-made complex transfer right to the place, and avoid all these troubles. Tickets are sold at travel agencies in the Khao San Road area, or you can book them online. On the road for more than 8-10 hours, cost from 720 baht (21.6 USD, see the currency of Thailand and the exchange rate), you can buy a little cheaper on the spot.

  The bus is also dispatched from this area, which is very convenient, since you do not have to get to the bus stations.   You can get to Sihanoukville from Bangkok by yourself through Trat, where you will have to change the bus, and possibly spend the night. You can read more about this route here...

  Another option is a composite route via Poipet, which is a little longer on the way, but without overnight stays, and in the end it will be faster and even cheaper: the road will take more than a day, the cost is from 1000 baht (30 USD). When booking online, keep in mind that at the border you will have to change the bus, and you will have to do it yourself. On the side of Thailand, you reach the city of Aranyaprathet, cross the border on your own and get to the bus station on the side of Cambodia. All this can be done by taxi or hitchhiking.
