The "Krepost" Museum in Kislovodsk is the main city museum where you can learn about the history of the city and the region. It can't be called modern or rich in exhibits; it only has 3 halls, but if you're interested in history, you'll find it engaging here.

The territory of modern Kislovodsk has been inhabited since ancient times — archaeologists find traces of Alan and Koban settlements here. However, the city's own history began in 1803, when, by order of General Yermolov, a military fortress was established to protect the Caucasian mineral waters. Modern Kislovodsk traces its origins back to this fortress.

Besides the exhibits inside, the building itself, which houses the museum, is also of interest. It is located in that very ancient fortress from the early 19th century — the only Russian fortress preserved in the North Caucasus. Don't forget to stroll through the adjacent park, which also features interesting exhibits, including several pieces of large military equipment from WWII and later periods.

Скромный музей, на троечку на мой взгляд. Коллекция никак не систематизирована, исторические периоды разбросаны, все перемешано. стоило бы сделать генеральную уборку и перестановку
