Although during the Great Patriotic War there were no battles on the territory of the then City of Gorky, 56 military units and formations, 72 detachments of the people's militia were formed here. All of them directly participated in the battles against the Nazis on the front line, and the city itself was subjected to 43 raids of German aviation, during which the Molotov automobile plant was completely destroyed.
In order to perpetuate the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, in the year of the 40th anniversary of the victory, Victory Park was laid. Every year on May 9, solemn events, reconstructions of battles, festive fireworks are held here. But even if you do not get here for the holiday, you can come and just walk around the park, but most importantly – visit the Museum of technology and defense industry. In it, under the open sky, there are more than 40 samples of modern and old military equipment from the war. There is a layout of the stronghold with trenches and dugouts, you can get inside.

🚶 How to get there
Victory Park is located on the embankment of the rowing canal, Ulyanov STR., 36-B (Victory Park on the map). This is not the most convenient place to get to by public transport, but on foot it is not so far. Directly to the main entrance to the park there is a bus number A5, but this route goes very rarely, about every hour and a half. On a much larger number of routes you can get to the Sennoy Square, and then 15-20 minutes on foot to the entrance from the back to the park, but you have to go down a steep staircase down the slope for a long time. From the Kremlin to the park on foot 2.5 kilometers and about 30 minutes on the road.
