What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The collection of the Museum of ancient equipment and tools in Nizhny Novgorod was personally collected by one person – collector and philanthropist Vyacheslav Khurtin, who for 20 years collected and restored more than 2000 exhibits. However, before visiting, you should know that this is not a museum of modern technical achievements, but rather, on the contrary, an excursion into the history of technical products, because among the exhibits here you can find tools, machines and devices that are more than 100 years old. The room of the museum is not large, it consists of only one hall, but there are a lot of exhibits here. Most of them can be touched, but it is allowed to do this with caution, so as not to break the mechanisms. You can not touch only musical instruments and cars, for which a separate excursion is held for 100 rubles.
Unfortunately, most of the exhibits are not signed, and sometimes it is impossible to understand what kind of mechanism or tool is in front of you, especially for a person who is not technically prepared.
The museum is private, and therefore the attitude to visitors is much more "careful" than in state museums. In addition to the inspection, you can order a modern technical device – an audio guide, or the services of a live guide.
