What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The museum is dedicated to the history of Russian photography. Among the exhibits are ancient and modern cameras, a collection of photographic equipment, instruments, and, of course, the photos themselves. To the older generation, many of the museum's exhibits will be familiar firsthand, because among them there are Soviet photo enlargers, development baths, red lanterns for working in a dark room, etc.
All photographic equipment is presented on the first floor in two halls, and on the second there is an exhibition of modern photographers of Nizhny Novgorod. Visiting the exhibition is also included in the entrance fee, you do not need to pay extra for visiting it. Especially interesting are the unique old photographs, among which there are great people of Russia. A small collection of 3D photos is presented separately.
The museum will appeal to a wide range of tourists who are not even fond of photography, but children will not be very interested here. When visiting the museum, an excursion service is offered for an additional fee of 200 and 300 rubles, but excursions are held only from Monday to Thursday. Also at the museum there is a photo school, a photo salon and a photo studio.
