The exposition of this small and quiet museum tells about the folk crafts of the Russian people and the Nizhny Novgorod region in particular. The exhibition is divided into several thematic sections: wood carving on peasant housing and household items; church wooden sculpture; carved, painted and wicker folk furniture; ceramics; metalworking; clothing; fabrics; stone and bone carving; folk toys; Nizhny Novgorod gingerbread. Among the exhibits there are many items that are familiar to the older generation, including a very interesting section with toys of the Soviet period.
The museum is really interesting and worthy of visiting, but, unfortunately, there is too much left from the Soviet period: dust on the exhibits, lack of information, cold uncomfortable room, dissatisfied with the visitors of the staff. However, with a guided tour it is definitely worth a visit, especially since the entrance fee is relatively low. Excursion service is offered when buying tickets for 250 rubles from a group of up to 10 people, you can choose one of eight options for the theme of the excursion. In addition to the main exposition, thematic exhibitions are held and master classes on the theme of the museum are offered.

adults-100 rubles / schoolchildren, pensioners-80 rubles / guide services-250 rubles per group. The last Wednesday of the month is free for persons under 18 years of age; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00 (except holidays) – free for persons under 16 years of age.

the museum is located in the most tourist center of the city on the pedestrian street Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, 43 (Museum on the map. It is not easy to find it, since there is no normal signboard. It is located on the 4th floor of the building of the shop "Arts and crafts" (do not confuse it with the museum, different entrances). You can get there by bus №№ 26, 43, 80, 64, 68 and route taxis No. 3, 4 (stop "M. Gorky Square").
