General information
Utes Settlement located on the coast of the Republic of Crimea, not far from Alushta, famous for its sunny beaches and developed infrastructure (Utes settlement on the map of Crimea). It belongs to the resort settlements of the southern coast of the Crimea, the most popular among tourists. Administratively belongs to Alushta (Greater Alushta) and is sometimes considered by tourists as one of its suburban beaches, although in fact it is a completely independent resort area with a self-sufficient infrastructure. The village is small, occupies only 0.6175 square kilometers at 46 meters above sea level. According to official data, no more than 300 residents live permanently in the village, but in the summer the population increases several times due to vacationers.
Rest in the cliff
The village of Utes cannot be called a typical beach resort of Crimea. This is a special place with a special atmosphere, which, most likely, is not in any other resort of the peninsula. This is a very family place without discos, tipsy walking companies, noisy bars. Everything here is very intelligent, and no fuss. It seems that this is not a Russian resort at all, but a European place on the seashore. Even the architecture here is appropriate.
Utes is a popular destination among vacationers who appreciate a high level of comfort. Many hotels have been built here - this is the legendary town of boathouses, as such clusters of tourist boarding houses and buildings for recreation in these parts are called.
At the same time, it should be understood that beach holidays and entertainment here are also different. There are few traditional water activities on the beaches, almost none on land. The beach itself for swimming is not very suitable, concrete and not beautiful. In general, young people will be bored here, but the elderly and families with children will like it very much. Also, the village will be a good option for people with health problems.
Beaches in the cliff
A short concrete embankment in the center of the Village (Santa Barbara district) is actively used by sellers to trade souvenirs .Center on map. From the promenade you can go for a walk on a boat or motor ship, or just admire the view of the Ayu Dag mountain and the slopes of Castel in the distance.
Under the Promenade there are several short pebble beaches with clear water. All of them are free, access is not limited. Unfortunately, you will not see any special natural beauties here: as on most beaches of the southern coast of Crimea, there are concrete and concrete breakwaters protruding into the sea, and some beaches are generally a concrete platform with sun loungers and a ladder for descending into the water. But, on the other hand, the beach and the promenade here are well-groomed, and, like the whole village, leave a feeling of comfort and cleanliness. Perhaps this is due to the fact that there is no chaos created by the usual water and beach entertainment. There is almost no such entertainment, everything is at a minimum for a calm and relaxing beach holiday. Well, one more minus of the beach in the center is a very inconvenient entrance for children, and in general the beach for recreation with children is not very suitable.
But the center is not all the beaches of the village. In fact, Utes also includes the coast behind Cape Plaka, in the direction of Parthenite (beaches behind the Cape on the map). These beaches are sometimes called karasan beaches, but the name of the sanatorium. You can't get to them on the shore, only on the road that goes around the Cape. Many mistakenly consider these beaches to be parthenite (Partenit village), but it doesn't. These are also pebble beaches along the concrete embankment. They are less well-groomed, like the embankment itself, you can even say abandoned. There is almost nothing on the shore here, only green spaces, which is why the beaches here are very deserted.
Entertainment and attractions
The clear sea creates excellent conditions for diving and underwater walks with masks. Utes offers a huge amount of entertainment for fans of outdoor activities, including quad bike rides, horseback riding and even skydiving and roadjumping, but all this outside the village, in the form of separate excursions.
Evening Rest in Utes does not shine with Variety, but this is the difference of the resort. After sunset, you can walk along the embankment, walk along the rows of the local market (it works especially for tourists until late). For bar lovers in utes, there are a number of bars and restaurants where you can taste the legendary Crimean wine while admiring the sunset to relaxing music. At ten o'clock in the evening the village is already asleep.
Well, if you are resting in one of the large sanatoriums of the cliff, then your evening leisure will try to diversify the hotel staff, holding themed shows, karaoke, discos.
There are practically no attractions in the cliff. But you can buy excursions to any place on the peninsula. You can independently go by bus to Alushta or Yalta for one day, and see their sights. You can walk to the village of Parthenit, where there are several interesting places (see parthenit attractions).
In the village itself, you can see the palace of Princess Gagarina, similar to a medieval castle, walk through the park of the sanatorium "the cliff" (entrance 100 USD), climb the ledge of Cape Plaka (from there a wonderful view opens).
Infrastructure
The infrastructure in the cliff is poorly developed. There are only the most necessary things: several small shops, pharmacies, travel agencies (excursions are sold right on the street), a market and shops with tourist goods. There are no places with inexpensive quality food, and prices in cafes and restaurants are not suitable for budget travelers. You can eat and cook yourself, if you have a kitchen at hand, but it is better and cheaper to buy products in shopping centers in Alushta, and here you can buy the most necessary things.
In the low season (winter), most cafes, restaurants and shops close.
Hotels and accommodation
In utes there are a lot of hotels, mini-hotels, there are several boarding houses. In terms of price/quality ratio – this is one of the best places in the Crimea (opinion of the authors of the site). But as in most places of the Crimea, the room fund is designed to accommodate two people in a room, and for family accommodation it is better to look for housing from private traders.
The private sector is almost absent here, but a very convenient accommodation option is accommodation in boathouses near the sea. For this, the Santa Barbara area is best suited (in fact, it is the center). Rent a room for a family of four people here can be from 1500 rubles per day, but it is better to look for such housing in advance through special sites on the Internet or on the "tip" of friends.
When searching for hotels in Crimea on Booking.com you will most likely receive a message- "no options found". This is a limitation booking.com because of the sanctions. Now as for choosing a place to live. The most developed place of the village is its center. Also this area is known as "Santa Barbara". It is here that the embankment, cafes and restaurants, shops and markets are located. However, choosing a hotel in this area should be borne in mind that there are very few green spaces, and the hotels themselves are adjacent to each other very tightly, leaving little space for flower beds and not at all leaving room for parks or Groves. But the buildings are located in close proximity to the sea.
Another isolated area is located behind Cape Plaka towards Parthenite. You should be careful to choose this place to stay, because staying here, you will actually find yourself in the wilderness and away from the infrastructure. To the center of here on foot will have to overcome even 20-30 minutes, and about 40 minutes from here to Parthenite. The advantages of this place – privacy and deserted beaches.
