Although the history of the Adzhimushkai quarries begins several centuries ago, today's landmark is dedicated to the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War. Then the quarries became the site of a fierce struggle between the Germans and about 13 thousand people who had taken refuge in the quarry passages stretching for many kilometers, including many military men. As a result of the confrontation, which lasted from May to October 1942, almost all 13 thousand were killed, only 48 people were captured.
Today there is a "Museum of the History of the Defense of the Adzhimushkai quarries", and this is definitely one of the must-see places to visit during a holiday in Kerch. A visit to the museum consists of a guided tour of the quarries, during which they tell in detail about the bloody confrontation, inspect the preserved weapons and household items used for survival. Visiting is possible only with a group that either form at a certain time at the entrance to the museum, or come here immediately from the city. Unfortunately, photo and video shooting is prohibited. To visit, it is better to have a flashlight with you and dress warmly, because it is cool inside. Children under 6 are not allowed.

In summer from 09:00 to 18:00, in winter from 09:00 to 17:00. Monday is a day off. The last excursion starts at 16:45 and 15:45, respectively , duration - 1 hour. Excursions start only when groups of 5 people are recruited, so if you arrive during business hours, there is no guarantee that the tour will take place for you, or you will have to wait a long time.

🚶 How to get there
The Museum of the Ajimushkai Quarries is located three kilometers from the city center (museum on the map). You can get here by bus number4 from the bus station or from Gorky Street, the fare is 35 rubles, go to the stop "Museum" (see the bus route on the map). There is ample parking for private transport.
