General information

Kamenskoye Village Beach, Crimea
Kamenskoye Village Beach

Kamenskoe (Kamenskoe, AK-Monai, Kamenka) - a small village in the north-east of Crimea on the coast of the Sea of Azov (Kamenskoye on the map of Crimea. It is located far from large settlements and other tourist resorts: 40 kilometers from Feodosia, 100 kilometers from Kerch. The village is very tiny, its permanent population is a little more than two hundred people, but in the high tourist season the number increases significantly due to vacationers. Near the village is Arabatskaya Strelka.

The former name of the village is AK-Manai, which indirectly indicates that the settlement was founded during the Crimean Khanate. Renamed in 1945 after the deportation of the Crimean Tatars.

Rest in village Kamenskoye

They go to the village of Kamenskoye for sandy beaches, warm and calm waters of the Sea of Azov, and silence. Unlike the Black Sea, the water in the Azov warms up earlier, and in general it is considered warmer by several degrees. In addition, the water temperature here is not subject to fluctuations due to undercurrents and is always stable. That is why families with children often go here to rest.

Kamenskoye Beach just endless. It begins in the center of the village, and continuously stretches for more than 100 kilometers!!!, passing into the beach of Arabatskaya Strelka. For lovers of romantic walks along the coast here is a real paradise, because there is no such Long Beach anywhere else in the world. There are no concrete breakwaters (bun), marinas and waterfront, only pure golden sand. The depth on the beach is small, you can go tens of meters from the shore. The sand is coarse, made of broken shells.

A big plus for a separate category of tourists is the silence and remoteness of the resort from civilization. In addition, Kamenskoye is an environmentally friendly place: there is no industry here, large ships do not appear off the coast. They also like to relax here because of the Salt Lake Sivash, located three kilometers away, whose salt water (brine) and mud are considered curative. see more about the therapeutic mud of the Crimea.

Lovers of outdoor activities go here for fishing on the Arabat arrow (plat), and in the vicinity there are several very good places for training and kite surfing.

Attractions and entertainment in Kamenskoye

Kamenskoye is not rich in sights, besides there are problems with going on excursions to other places in the Crimea. Therefore, if you can not think of a vacation without going to museums and visiting historical ruins, it is better to refrain from resting here and choose a place closer to civilization.

There is only one attraction here – the Akmonai quarries. With a stretch, you can count the Arabat arrow (plat) and Lake Sivash among the natural attractions. Previously operating as a historical landmark , the Arabat fortress has been a military facility since 2014, and its inspection and photographing are prohibited.

Entertainment in Kamenskoye is absent. Even on the beach there is nothing of the usual water Entertainment. In high season, sometimes on the beach you can gather a team of like-minded people to play volleyball or football, and that's it. In the evening there is nothing to occupy at all, except to go to one of the few cafes-kebabs.

But fans of kite surfing here is where to turn around. In the village itself, on Arabatskaya Strelka and even on Lake Sivash there are excellent conditions for practicing and teaching this sport. That is why in the high season, the bekite kite school opens its spots here (be-kiter.com).

  • Arabat fortress

    Arabat fortress, Crimea
    Arabat fortress

Arabat fortress is known as the only Tatar-Turkish on the Azov Coast. The first mention of it dates back to 1651. It was built by the Turks to prevent Russia from reaching the Black Sea. The perimeter with five bastions was designed for a long-term siege, in addition it was surrounded by a moat, which was filled with sea water if necessary.

However, despite all the engineering ideas, the fortress was captured by Russian soldiers in 1771. After the Crimean War, it was no longer used as a military object, and in the 20th century it became a historical object. However, in 2014 it was again occupied by the Russian military.

🕐 Working hours: around the clock.

💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the fortress cannot be inspected in detail and climbed on it, as before 2014, since it is now a military facility. You can walk around it and look at the outside, no more. Getting from the village of Kamenskoye to it is easy on foot by walking along the shore for 3 kilometers (Arabat fortress on the map).

  • Arabatskaya Strelka

    Arabatskaya Strelka, Crimea
    Arabatskaya Strelka

The longest sandbar in the world. Its length is more than 110 kilometers, width from 270 meters to 8 kilometers. Currently, it is de facto divided between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. On the Russian side there is no infrastructure, only a long sandy beach.

🕐 Working hours: around the clock.

💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: free.

🚶 How to get there: Arabat arrow (plat) begins immediately after the fortress. You can get to it on foot along the beach after walking a little more than three kilometers (Arabat arrow (plat) on the map).

  • AK-Monai quarries

    AK-Monai quarries, Crimea
    AK-Monai quarries

Quarrying began in the 18th century under Catherine II, and continued until the early 20th century. Mostly exiled convicts, unwanted soldiers and sailors worked here. They mined stone for the construction of cities and villages in the vicinity, in particular, Theodosia was built from this stone.

Over time, this place has become overgrown with many legends, and it is said that from here you can get by underground passages even to the Adzhimushkai Quarries. But, of course, this is not so, because the quarries are well researched and even their detailed scheme has been drawn up.

This place has a modern history. In the dashing nineties of the last century, a local gang lived in the quarries. Here they trained in shooting, and here a policeman died while trying to catch them. A monument was posthumously erected to the deceased police sergeant Farafontov, but of course not in the quarries, but on the surface.

Today it is quite a safe place, and anyone can inspect them. The quarry passages are very developed, huge halls are punched, there are many exits to the surface. It is difficult to get lost, but without a flashlight it is better not to go deep. The most interesting in the quarries are drawings and inscriptions left by convicts. Also in the moves there are several sources (wells), which can be found on the wall signs. And there are caves with bats.

🕐 Working hours: around the clock.

💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: free.

🚶 How to get there: many descents into the quarries are on the outskirts of Kamenskoye village (entrance to the quarries on the map). They are scattered throughout the field, there are both large and very tiny manholes. On the map we marked a cluster of the largest entrances. You can get there from the center of the village on foot in 10 minutes, in dry weather you can drive along a dirt road by car.

Infrastructure in Kamenskoye

The infrastructure in Kamenskoye is very poorly developed. There is a mini-market, a pharmacy, a couple of department stores, several cafes and kebabs. More developed shops and a market are located in the village of Semisotka, six kilometers away, and for serious purchases you need to go to Feodosia or Kerch. Meat and vegetables can be bought from local residents. Prices in a rural store for goods traditionally demanded by tourists such as beer and ice cream are quite high.

Hotels and accommodation in Kamenskoye

Kamenskoye Village Hotel, Crimea

In Kamenskoye there are several recreation centers, boarding houses and hotels: recreation centers "Lastochka", "Chaika" and "Vimpel", boarding house "Planet of summer", mini-hotel "Yuzhnaya", mini-hotel "bely Khutor" and several private guest houses. Three kilometers in the direction of Arabatskaya Strelka and 300 meters from the fortress is another Recreation Center "Safari".

Prices for accommodation here are not very low, rather, on the contrary, inflated for such a "deaf" place (accommodation in a hotel from 1000 rubles, at a campsite from 650 rubles without food). Therefore, if you want to save a little, you can stay with private traders. Ads for delivery hang directly on the houses,or you can contact the first local resident. But keep in mind that the local private sector is mostly old village houses with a minimum of amenities, besides the housing stock is small, and in high season there is a chance not to find a free one.

For those who like to relax in a tent or motorhome, the whole coast is open, but there is no organized camping here. The coast near the village is steep, you can drive up to the water to camp safely only on an SUV and only on the outskirts of the village. But if you go further to Arabatskaya Strelka for the fortress, immediately begins a spacious gentle shore and exits directly to the beach.

When searching for hotels in Crimea on Booking.com you will most likely receive a message- "no options found". This is a limitation booking.com because of the sanctions. Weather and tourist seasons in Kamenskoye village

The sea of Azov is warmer than the Black Sea, and besides, it is not subject to temperature fluctuations due to undercurrents, so the bathing season here begins earlier than on the southern coast of the Crimea. The first tourists appear here in early May (you can sunbathe and fish), and you can swim comfortably in early June. The bathing season lasts until September inclusive, and sometimes passes into October.

How to get to Kamenskoye

Kamenskoye is located far from other resorts and large settlements of Crimea (Kamenskoye on the map of Crimea), and public transport is very poorly developed. Therefore, it is best to get here by your own transport or taxi. A taxi from Simferopol airport will cost 3000-4000 rubles. You can book a transfer from the airport in advance:

If you decide to get to the village yourself by public transport, you will have to make several transfers. From the airport there is no direct bus to get here at all, and you must first get to Feodosia (see how to get to Feodosia), and from there to the village of Batalnoye, and then hitchhiking to Kamenskoye. If you go from the Crimean bridge, you also need to get to the village of Batalnoye. Also, local buses rarely go from the village of Batalnoye to Kamenskoye.
