What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The museum building is the oldest European building on the Southern coast of Crimea. It was built in 1808-1811 by Duke Armand du Plessis de Richelieu. In 1820, a young A.S. Pushkin spent several weeks here, who simply fell in love with the then Gurzuf. According to some versions, the famous Lukomorye of the poet was located on the shores of the Gurzuf Bay. But the author got here not by his own will, but as a result of exile for anti-government poems.
The exposition is located in 6 halls and tells about the Crimean period of the poet's life. The lifetime editions of A.S. Pushkin, everyday objects of the Pushkin era and the Crimean way of life of the early 19th century are presented. In June 2007, a memorial cabinet of the outstanding Pushkin scholar B.V. Tomashevsky was also created here, on whose initiative this museum was established.
