Sasyk-Sivash Lake it can be interesting for tourists for three reasons. The first is the largest lake in the Crimea and one of the most picturesque. In good weather, in its waters you can see a beautiful pink shade, which was formed due to the high concentration of sea salt and chemical elements released by a special algae. Therefore, tourists often come here to see and photograph a wonderful fantastic landscape. True, in fairness it should be said that you can get beautiful photos with a pink tint only in good bright weather, and in cloudy it turns gray.
Another reason is that you can swim in the lake. It is so salty that it is impossible to drown in it, and due to the shallow depth (it hardly exceeds one meter) it warms up very well, and you can swim in it in mid-May.
And finally, the third reason to come to the lake – its healing black mud, officially considered curative. Silt mud of the Crimea is extremely powerful in its effect on the body. In terms of composition, this is a complex complex containing valuable chemical and biological substances for the body, including hormones, biogenic stimulants, vitamin-like and penicillin-like substances. Under the influence of mud, complex processes occur in all systems of the human body, as a result of which forces are activated that can overcome the disease. And although experts do not recommend taking mud baths on their own, here you can often see vacationers smeared with soot-black mud. If you also decide to try self-treatment with local mud, at least read the article Therapeutic mud of the Crimea.
Unfortunately, the healing properties of the lake are under threat. The fact is that their preservation directly depends on the salinity of the lake, and once it drops, the healing properties can go away. And Lake Sasyk-Sivash is divided into two parts by a thin embankment dam, and its northern part is fresh. Once the dam collapses, the fresh water from North Lake will destroy all the miraculous power of the mud.
