The Church of the Archangel Michael or the Holy Archangel Michael is the most significant Orthodox church in Alupka. It was built in the Russian-Byzantine style with high gilded domes and unpainted walls, which looks quite unusual compared to other temples, and more like an old castle.

The history of the Church of the Archangel Michael, as well as many temples that survived the Soviet period, is tragic. The beginning of construction dates back to 1903, when the foundation was laid, the stones of the first Alupka church, destroyed by a landslide, were laid in its foundation.

By 1908, the temple was illuminated, and in 1927, as a result of an earthquake, the temple was severely damaged, and it was decided to disassemble it. But this, fortunately, did not happen. Only in 1990 the remains of the temple were given to the church, and in 2008, after a major restoration, it took on its current appearance.

Inside the temple it is light and spacious, a pleasant and calm atmosphere. Colorful murals on the walls, stained glass windows, icons and an unusual iconostasis delight parishioners.
