Eagle Regiment - this is the most famous and visited sights of Mezmay and just for the sake of getting to it, they even go here specifically for excursions with resorts of the Krasnodar Territory and from neighboring regions. This is a ledge in the rock above a high steep cliff, which offers a stunning view of Mezmay and the surrounding area, which simply takes your breath away. And the Spirit captures not so much from the views as from the height and steepness of the cliff. After a rest and a photo shoot, you can follow the path a little in the opposite direction (from where you came), and you will get to another small shelf and to the cave.
Unfortunately, despite the popularity and lack of knowledge of this route, except for the Eagle shelf itself and a small spring with drinking water about half the way, most tourists on this tourist route will not see anything else. There is an extended version of the route with a visit to another Elizabethan shelf, an observation deck above the Eagle shelf, an observation deck on the Pyramid Rock and the Mikhailov stone, but it is problematic to go to it without experience in hiking in this area or a guide, it is easy to lose the trail. Alternatively, you can diversify your hike with an additional climb to the Elizabethan shelf and the observation deck above the Eagle shelf, but for this you will have to climb higher and walk along a dangerous path over the cliff.
During the weekly weekends and holidays, a lot of tourists come here, including tipsy people. Especially a lot of people accumulate on the shelf in the morning, so it just becomes dangerous to be on it and move along the trail. To avoid this, it is better to go here on weekdays, or on weekends in the afternoon.

🚶 How to get there
the beginning of the route is 2 kilometers from the center of Mezmay near the main road leading to the village (start of route on map. There is no parking area, but the car can be left free of charge on the side of the road. From here to the shelf itself, go through the forest 2.7 kilometers, and you will have to overcome about 120 meters in height (Eagle Regiment on the map. On foot, even for unprepared tourists, it will take a little more than an hour and a half in one direction. Here they offer to drive one and a half kilometers along this road on off-road vehicles for 700 rubles for 6 people in one direction, and then it remains to go only 1 kilometer to the shelf. The Walking part of the route is not very difficult, but almost in front of the shelf there are several dangerous sections where the trail passes a narrow strip over a cliff, be careful there, especially in the rain and with children. Also, do not accidentally turn right on the way, otherwise instead of Eagle you will go along the rock above to the Elizabethan shelf and the observation deck.
