Russia"Mendelikha" – this is a complex of 7 waterfalls and 10 observation decks, which are visited as an easy hiking route from the resort Rosa Khutor in Krasnaya Polyana. But to get to the beginning of this route, you will first have to get to it by cable car, because on foot, unfortunately, within one day you can not get to it.
Trails and observation decks are well equipped with decking, stairs, railings, there are places for recreation and picnics. In total, there are three routes of different lengths and complexity: small (1 waterfall / 900 meters / 50 minutes), Medium (2 waterfalls / 1500 meters / one and a half hours) and large (7 waterfalls / 3000 meters / 3 hours). We advise you to pass the big one, because only on it you will see all the waterfalls and the beauty of nature, visit the observation decks with gorgeous views of the mountains and valleys.
On all routes there are Height Differences, on a large route they reach 150 meters, so sports or trekking shoes and good physical shape are mandatory. A great route is also available for children, but they need to be prepared and closely monitored during the walk. The route is also worth taking a jacket or windbreaker (even in summer), a hat, sunglasses and skin protection from the sun, drinking water. Since the waterfalls are located in the border zone, you must take your passport and birth certificates for children with you.

🕐 Working hours: the resort's website lists the official opening hours of the Falls Park as 10:00-16:00, but in practice this depends on the opening hours of the cable cars, which varies throughout the year. The lower station operates on average from 09:00 to 19:00, and the most recent (upper) "Edelweiss" from 10:30 to 17:00. It is better to specify this time directly on the spot. The best season to see full – water waterfalls is spring and early summer, because in the rest of the year they become low-water, or even completely dry out.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: Visiting the trails and waterfalls is free, but to visit them, you will have to buy a ticket for the ropeway of the Rosa Khutor Resort (from 1100 rubles in 2021 when buying on the official website. If you decide to climb on foot, you can visit everything for free.
🚶 How to get there: the waterfalls are located at an altitude of about 1500 meters, which is almost 1000 meters above the level of the center of the resort, and they are located behind a higher ridge with a height of 2300 meters (Mendelich on the map). It is best to get there by cable car. To do this, you need to buy one of the options for a walking ticket for the Rosa Khutor cable car (Caucasian express). There are several options for such tickets, including different cable cars and additional entertainment, so before buying, check which of them includes Mendelikha. The beginning of the ascent begins at the Lower Station "Olympia", from where with transfers you will reach the top of Rosa Peak 2300 meters. There you will need to go on foot to the chairlift "Edelweiss" and go down directly to the waterfalls.
If you have experience hiking in the mountains, great physical shape and a lot of time, you can go this route on foot, but it will take two or three days with an overnight stay in a tent in the mountains. After all, you first need to overcome an altitude of about 1600 meters, and then go down to 600, the length of the route is about 13 kilometers. Only very hardy and prepared people can do this in a short time. You can ease your "fate" if you start the climb not from the center of Rosa Khutor from a height of 575 meters, but first take a car or taxi to the "Rosa Plateau" and start from a height of 1170 meters. Technically, this route is simple and in the summer does not require special equipment, since now the slopes are covered with a network of ski slopes. There is no snow on the slopes in summer.
