Mayak Mountain is one of the natural attractions in the Gunib district, which can be visited during the day while relaxing in the village of Gunib. The height of the Lighthouse is 2352 meters, but in order to climb it, you do not need mountaineering skills, because a relatively simple gentle path leads to the top. This is just a hiking route that will require a little physical effort from you, and nothing more. Of course, you need to take drinking water with you for a walk, you can have something to eat, and be sure to wear sports or hiking shoes.
When you get to the top of Mayak Mountain, you will be rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of mountainous Dagestan, and actually it is for this that you should climb here. Also, on the way to the Lighthouse from Guinba, you can visit Gunibskaya fortress, Gunibskiy or Slavikov waterfall, Imam Shamil's Gazebo and see spotted deer in the aviary in the Upper Gunib.

🚶 How to get there
Mayak Mountain is located on the territory of the Upper Gunib Nature Park, 10 kilometers from the center of Gunib (Lighthouse on the map). Getting to the top will not be difficult, climbing skills will not be required.
If you like to walk and your goal is to get to know the nature and beauty of these places better, then you can walk this whole route from Gunib, although in this case you will have to walk 20 kilometers back and forth with a climb of about 1300 meters. This is quite possible for any healthy person, but it will take you a whole day for such a walk.
To ease "your lot", you can do part of the journey by car. Navigators, in particular yandex.navigator, there is a route to Mount Mayak somehow in a detour, you don't need to go that way. You need to go strictly by road to the Shamilevsky Gate and the Gunib fortress, and beyond. You can easily climb up to the Gazebo of Imam Shamil or a little further, there is good asphalt. Then it will be 6 and a half kilometers and 900 meters in climb to the top. Then the asphalt ends, but you can drive even further and higher to go less. The primer leads all the way to the campsite Campland Gunib, then only 3 kilometers will remain to go, but it's better to go there by SUV or at least a crossover. In principle, you can get along this road to any point where you can get there without fear for the car, leave it and continue on foot. The places here are quiet, there are enough parking spaces on the side of the road.
