Gunibsky or Slavikov waterfall is a hidden gem of the popular Dagestan resort village of Gunib. The waterfall is high and powerful, at its foot you can swim in a small natural pool and even get a natural water massage with falling jets of water for fun. But at the same time, the waterfall is almost always deserted, since large groups of tourists with excursions are not carried here, and indeed few people know about it yet.
One of the reasons for the low popularity and low fame of the waterfall is that it is not so easy to get here. The fact is that there is no parking near Guniba Waterfall. From the center there is a good asphalt, but winding mountain road, equipped with safety bumpers along the edges, which leave no chance to make a stop in the vicinity of the waterfall. So, if you want to visit it, you will have to walk a lot, which, however, is definitely worth doing if you are going to rest in Guniba. At the same time, in our opinion, it is not worth going here specifically just for the sake of this waterfall.

🚶 How to get there
Gunib waterfall is located just a little more than a kilometer from the center of the village of Gunib (Gunibskiy waterfall on the map). You can get here from the center of the village on foot, although for this you will have to gain a height of 150 meters, and this is the height of an almost 50-storey building. The entrance to the trail is located on a steep bend of the road that leads to the Gunib fortress, here it is on the map (entrance/start of the trail on the map). Further from this point to the waterfall, it remains to walk along a simple path called Absheron, only 250 meters.
You can get to the beginning of the trail to the waterfall by car, there is a good asphalt road leading there, but the problem is that there is absolutely no place where you can park your car. There is a slight thickening of the carriageway a few hundred meters further and higher up the road, but only a couple of cars can park there. If the seats are occupied there, then you will have to drive on to the next sharp turn or to the Shamilevsky Gate, so there is a place for parking. Further to the entrance to the path to the waterfall, of course, you will have to go.
