Shamil's gazebo is one of the iconic points in the Gunib district near the village of Gunib, a monument to the heroism of the peoples of the Caucasus in the Caucasian War of 1817-1864. It was here that negotiations took place between the leader of the rebels, Imam Shamil, and the Russian military commander, Prince Baryatinsky, during which the final point of the Caucasian war was put and a peace treaty was signed.
The monument is a white rotunda, in the center of which there is a stone on which Prince Baryatinsky is believed to have sat, and it is this plot that is depicted in many paintings. Of course, there was no rotunda during the negotiations, it was installed only in 1893. Then it was decorated with a double-headed eagle and a cast-iron plate with the inscription "Field Marshal Prince Baryatinsky sat on this stone, receiving the captive Shamil on August 25, 1859." However, the original rotunda has not survived to this day, it was destroyed several times, and then restored. The last time in the late nineties it was blown up by the Wahhabis, almost completely erased from the face of the earth. Almost nothing remains of the original building, but the residents of Gunib restored it on their own. Unfortunately, the commemorative cast-iron plate did not survive the "attempts", but they tried to recreate the gazebo in its original form. A dozen meters from the gazebo there is another memorial stone "In memory of the national feat in the Caucasian War", and directly next to the rotunda the chronology of the Caucasian War is reflected on granite slabs.
Today, Imam Shamil's Gazebo is one of the places where groups of tourists with excursions are necessarily brought during a trip to Gunib. And if you are traveling on your own and stop for a few days in Guniba, you will not be able to pass the gazebo, because it is located on the way to one of the best viewing points Mount Mayak and very close to Gunibskaya fortress.

Imam Shamil's gazebo is located on the territory of the Upper Gunib Nature Park, 4 kilometers from the center of Gunib (gazebo on the map). There is a good asphalt road leading here along the serpentine, you can easily get there on foot, there are parking spaces.
