What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Lake Psenodach - beautiful mountain lake on Lago Naki plateau in Caucasian Reserve in Adygea. This is one of the most visited attractions of the Reserve. The lake is notable for its crescent shape. The water in it is very cold even in summer, as it is fed from streams formed by melting glaciers. The depth is small, but even with this, only the most hardened can swim in it.
There is no infrastructure near the lake, even parking with a tent is officially prohibited by the rules of the Reserve. However, in practice, tourists often camp here without any consequences, although this is a violation.
🕐 Working hours
around the clock, it is better to visit during the day in the summer.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price
to get to the lake, you need to pay for the entrance to the reserve 300 rubles per adult, 100 rubles for children from 7 to 14 years old, children under 7 years old - free of charge. Tickets are purchased at one of the checkpoints (Lagonaki checkpoint or Uzurub checkpoint), and are valid until midnight of the same day.
🚶 How to get there
visiting the lake is very easy during a visit to the Caucasus Nature Reserve (Lake Psenodach on the map), but to reach it, it will take time, and, of course, you will have to pay for the entrance to the Reserve. The easiest way to reach it is from the Uzurub checkpoint, which in turn can be reached from the village of Guzeripl on the asphalt road. You need to get to the end of the asphalt to Yavorova Polyana, where the car will have to be left in a paid parking lot for 200 rubles per day, or just on the side of the road, as many do. Next, follow the trail to the Uzurub checkpoint (Uzurub checkpoint on the map), from the checkpoint along the trail to the camp instructor's slot/Armenian Booth (2 hours), and from the camp follow the trail to the West (3 hours). The entire round-trip route can be done in one day, but you should start it early. For everything about everything it is better to plan 10 hours.
The trail along the entire route is marked, there are direction signs near the instructor's slot. Also, there are constantly other tourists who can clarify the route. And you can also use the Navigator or smartphone with the OSM application installed or Organic Maps in them, trails are drawn all the way to the lake. There are no steep ascents anywhere, you will have to go up only to the instructor's slot, and then almost everywhere horizontally. Need good shoes, preferably trekking poles, cap, sunglasses, water. Along the way, you can collect water in one of the mountain streams, including near the lake itself.
