Description and is it worth a visit
Malioboro Street (Jalan Malioboro) is the main walking and pedestrian tourist area for tourists. Strictly speaking, Malioboro is not a pedestrian zone, but along this busy city road there are wide sidewalks, cafes, restaurants, shops and shopping centers, markets, travel agencies. The street itself is decorated with sculptures and equipped with shops for recreation, sometimes there are street performers, students who want to get to know and practice their English, souvenir sellers and fast food vendors. There are also all kinds of scammers and pickpockets, so be careful.
True, in the evenings during the high tourist season, Malioboro Street is so crowded with people, mostly local tourists, that there is nothing to think about a quiet walk along it. In addition, in recent years, some kind of remodeling work has been constantly underway there, the road and sidewalks are partially blocked, it can be dusty and dirty, and you have to go to the roadway.
If you want to eat here, then be prepared to do it in the traditional Indonesian style sitting on the floor at a low table, and most of the cafes and fast food here are halal. If you want to sit in a relaxed atmosphere at high tables and eat European cuisine, you will have to look for such a place, and it is best to do it on one of the perpendicular streets.
