Description and is it worth a visit

The Royal Palace of Ubud

The Royal Palace of Ubud (Ubud Palace) is also called Puri Saren (Puri Saren) and Ubud Water Palace. This is a historical and architectural landmark that is worth a visit if you stay in Ubud or come for a day to get to know this town. But it's definitely not worth going here just to visit the palace from other resorts, you'll spend 5 minutes here. If you want to see a really beautiful and large-scale palace, then it's better to go to the Tirta Gangga Water Palace, how to visit it we tell you here...

In fact, to call the palace in Ubud royal is not entirely correct. It was built by a dynasty of the king's subjects, who could be called princes. It is not known exactly when it was built. The first information about it is found in the sources in 1800-1823, when a palace was erected on this site to replace the older one, apparently not preserving its image. That is, this is not such an ancient palace. Moreover, in 1917, during an earthquake, it was destroyed. After that, it was restored with maximum accuracy. The heirs of the dynasty still live here today in a private part closed to tourists.

Part of the palace is open to tourists. You can enter the courtyard, inspect everything there, but it is small. However, in addition to visiting the architecture, you can also watch a traditional dance performance here. It takes place daily at 19:00, a different program is shown on each day of the week.
