Overview: bus to Kislovodsk
The bus is the cheapest way to get to Kislovodsk, but it has a major downside: the bus station is on the outskirts of the city (4 Promyshlennaya St.), 6 km from the tourist center. From there, you'll have to get to your hotel by taxi or city minibus.
Main long-distance bus routes to Kislovodsk:
- 🚌 From Moscow and St. Petersburg — overnight trips, travel time 20–30 hours
- 🚌 From Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Astrakhan — regular routes
- 🚌 From neighboring regions — Arkhyz, Dombay (the only public transport to the mountains)
- 🚌 From towns of the Caucasian Mineral Waters — Mineralnye Vody, Pyatigorsk, Yessentuki, Zheleznovodsk
Below — detailed instructions for each route, current prices, and where to buy tickets.

💡 Tip: If you're heading to Arkhyz or Dombay for the weekend, it's better to buy bus tickets in advance — on Friday evening seats can sell out. An alternative is a group transfer or taxi (from 4000 RUB per car).

Where to buy a bus ticket online
👉 Recommended services for buying long-distance bus tickets:
💡 Important: Tickets for suburban buses (Mineralnye Vody, Pyatigorsk, Yessentuki) are hard to buy online — they're sold at the bus station ticket offices. For long-distance routes (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar), online booking works great.
How to get from the bus station to the center of Kislovodsk
Kislovodsk bus station is at: 4 Promyshlennaya St. (see on the map). This is the northern outskirts of the city, 6 km from Kurortny Boulevard.
Options for getting to the center:
- 🚌 Taxi — from 200 RUB via app (Yandex Go). There's a taxi stand at the bus station exit.
- 🚌 City buses and minibuses — #12, 14, 19. The stop is right outside the bus station. Fare — 35 RUB. They take you to Kurortny Boulevard and the train station.
- 🚶 On foot — not recommended (6 km, about 1.5 hours, hard with suitcases).
Personal tip: Kislovodsk bus station isn't the most pleasant place. It's cramped, there are few seats, and the ticket offices take breaks. If possible, choose the train or plane instead. The bus only makes sense if you're on a super tight budget or other options aren't available.
Useful tips (personal experience)
- 📅 Check the schedule before your trip. In the off-season (October–April), there are fewer departures, and some get canceled. Call the bus station or check online.
- 💵 Compare prices. Different carriers may operate on the same route with price differences of 500–1000 RUB.
- 🚌 Overnight buses from Moscow are the most popular option. You leave in the evening, sleep on the road, and arrive in Kislovodsk in the morning. But be prepared that the bus station isn't exactly in the tourist center.
- 💡 If you're traveling with kids or a lot of luggage — the bus isn't the best choice. The bus station is far from the center, and it's a hassle to get around with suitcases. Better to spend a bit more on a train (arrives in the center) or a plane + taxi.
- 🚗 For Arkhyz and Dombay on weekends — buy tickets in advance. On Friday evening, seats sell out fast. Or gather a group and take a taxi — it won't cost much more, and it'll be more comfortable.
