Overview and Is It Worth Visiting
Staroe Ozero in Kislovodsk is, in our opinion, the best place to break up the monotony of sanatorium treatments during a summer vacation in Kislovodsk. The lake is small, but they've created a very neat and modern recreation area around it. And the best part — it's all completely free. Locals, especially young people, love coming here; not all tourists know about it yet. The beach is sandy, but the water entry is over small pebbles, so be prepared. Everything looks new and well-maintained: there's a wooden platform over the water (correctly called a "pontoon" or "pier"), with wooden sun loungers placed on it, sun canopies, swings for children, changing cabins, and even showers. Kids will definitely love it — there's a separate playground and a sand area where they can play with molds.
A zip line cable is stretched over the lake — that's paid, but adrenaline junkies will appreciate it. A rope park operates nearby: you can do a course starting from 300 rubles, with five routes of varying difficulty. For those who want to spend active time on the water, catamarans, rowboats, and SUP boards are available for rent — 500 rubles for half an hour.
🕐 Opening Hours
The beach area and the lake are open for visits 24/7, but swimming is comfortable from morning to evening in the warm season. The rope park and rental operate from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
💵 Entry Fee / Ticket Price

🚶 How to Get There
Staroe Ozero is located on the outskirts of Kislovodsk, but not very far from the center (Staroe Ozero on the map). It's about 3 kilometers on foot from the center. A taxi ride will cost from 150 rubles. The only bus that goes directly to the lake is #5, but it runs infrequently. It's easier to take buses #10, 11, 18, or 29 to the "Tolbukhina Ulitsa" stop, then walk through Komsomolsky Park — a pleasant 10-15 minute walk. If you're driving your own car, parking is free, and spaces are usually available.
