Description and whether it's worth visiting

Historical and Local Lore Museum in Yessentuki
V.P. Shpakovsky Museum in Yessentuki

V.P. Shpakovsky Historical and Local Lore Museum is a solid local history museum that tells the story of the region from ancient times to the present day, covering its natural riches, underground minerals, and of course, the healing springs and the city's development as a resort. They also host temporary exhibitions of local artists and performers. The permanent exhibition is very rich and interesting, especially with a guided tour.

The museum is right in the center, a two-minute walk from Kurortny Park. It's the only museum in the city, and besides the park and the drinking galleries, there's not much else to see here. So if you want to add some variety to your walks and learn about the history of Yessentuki — it's definitely worth stopping by.

Our honest opinion on whether it's worth visiting: Definitely yes, if you've already walked through Kurortny Park and want to learn about Yessentuki's history. The museum is small, but the exhibition is rich, and it's right in the center — literally a 2-minute walk from the park. Another plus: it's the only museum in the city, so there's no "choice" anyway. We recommend taking a tour (from 500 RUB) — it's much more interesting than just wandering through the halls on your own.
