Cape Kazantip located north of Shchelkino behind the village of Mysovoye, and has the appearance of a cauldron, deeply protruding into the sea. It is because of its shape that it got its name "Kazan-type", which in translation from Crimean Tatar means "bottom of the cauldron".
It is a natural monument of national importance and a nature reserve protected by the state. However, anyone can visit it, you just need to follow the rules and not ruin nature here. And the nature here is special. After all, everyone is used to seeing an abundance of vegetation and animals in reserves, but here, on the contrary, a continuous steppe. For tourists, it is rather remarkable not nature and wildlife, but the shape of the Cape, its landscape, numerous secluded coves with their sandy beaches, the ruins of military structures.
You can get to Kazantip from Shchelkino on foot, and freely walk along it, go down to one of the bays and sunbathe or swim there. The Cape is small, about four kilometers in diameter. And all of it is easy to get around on foot. But there are also inaccessible areas: there is a mobile radar station and several operating oil wells, which are not close to approach. During a walk you can meet snakes, but these are not deadly species, you can not worry about this. Much more dangerous is that there are many ticks and poisonous Karakurt spiders (subspecies of Black Widow). See more about spiders and ticks in Crimea in the article "Dangers in Crimea".
