By plane

Novorossiysk does not have its own airport, the nearest one is located in Gelendzhik, 36 kilometers away (airport on the map). Another option is to use Anapa airport (62 kilometers). Which airport to choose depends on your region and season. The fact is that there are few flights from the regions to Gelendzhik airport, and the prices are quite high. It is often cheaper to fly to Anapa airport and take a taxi from there than to fly to Gelendzhik and take buses from there. How to get from the airport to Novorossiysk

Theoretically, you can get from both airports on suburban and intercity buses with transfers. But this saving will result in a great loss of time, which is undesirable on vacation. Therefore, we strongly recommend using a taxi or tourist transfer. You can use an airport taxi (expensive), order a car through the aggregators Yandex. Taxi, Uber, etc. (usually cheaper), or order a ready-made tourist transfer via the Internet (more expensive, but the most comfortable option with a meeting at the airport). Many more accommodation facilities, including private guest houses, offer for an additional fee an airport pick-up and delivery to the place of rest, and this is usually the most profitable option.

By train to Novorossiysk

In Novorossiysk there is a dead-end passenger railway station, to which during the high tourist season there are many trains from Moscow, St. Petersburg and the regions. There are also trains from major cities of the Krasnodar Territory and neighboring regions.

Tickets for the summer season is better to buy in advance a month or two before the trip, so cheaper. Check the schedule and buy tickets better on the official website of Russian Railways or at the city's ticket offices. When buying through the site, it is better to first register in the Russian Railways bonus system in order to save points for the next trips.

How to get from Novorossiysk railway station

The railway station is not in a very convenient location in the industrial zone of the city and is quite far from the center and the coast (railway station on the map). We advise you to get to the place of rest by taxi, ordered through aggregator applications. You can also use the services of "Bombil", who are on duty in the parking lot in front of the station or meet guests of the city immediately when getting off the train. But their price is too high, so you need to bargain.

If you really need to save money, you can use buses or trolleybuses. From the platform at the exit from the station, suburban/intercity routes to Gelendzhik also depart. The city center can be reached by trolleybuses No. 1 and No. 6 for 28 rubles (in the evening 30 USD).

By bus to Novorossiysk

You can get here by bus from many cities of the Krasnodar Territory and neighboring regions. In summer, direct flights of tourist buses are launched from some regions of the European part of the Russian Federation. Although it is generally cheaper to travel by bus than by train or plane, we recommend using this mode of Transport for long-distance travel only as a last resort.

In the city, buses arrive/depart at the bus station in the city center (bus station on the map). From here to some hotels you can get on foot, take a taxi (trip from 60 USD), or use public transport (travel from 28 USD).

By car to Novorossiysk

The route from the cities of the Western (European) part of the Russian Federation is best laid along the high-speed Federal Highway M4-Don with partially paid sections. You can go around the paid sections of the M4 on free roads, but then you will have to spend a few hours more time, because you will have to go through settlements with traffic jams.

From the eastern cities, the route can be laid through Volgograd. Along the way, all roads are free, but not of very good quality. It will be especially difficult to drive through Volgograd, so we recommend planning its travel at night or on weekends.

In Novorossiysk, there are no great difficulties with parking even in the city center and near the embankment. There are places with signs prohibiting parking, but you can always find where to park the car in small alleys or near shopping centers and small shops.

Transport

In Novorossiysk there is a public transport system of buses, minibuses and trolleybuses. The fare is 28 rubles in the daytime, and 30 rubles from 21:00 to 23:00. There are also suburban routes that depart from the bus station to Gelendzhik and other neighboring resorts. For route planning is convenient to use Yandex maps, Google or app 2GIS.
