Elabuga (Elabuga, Alabuga) - a small provincial town in the Republic of Tatarstan, 210 kilometers from the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan, on the banks of the Kama River (Yelabuga on the map of Russia. The city is quite small, the population is only 73 thousand people, but along with Kazan it is one of the oldest settlements in the Republic. Yelabuga can hardly be called the center of tourist attraction. There is a poorly developed tourist infrastructure, few hotels, almost no entertainment for tourists. How to get to Yelabuga
The easiest way to visit Yelabuga as part of a group tour from Kazan. Such excursions can be purchased via the Internet in advance or on the spot (in Kazan) in travel agencies or tourist information centers on the streets of the city, but it is still better to take care of the purchase in advance, since they are not sent every day. By plane
The nearest airport Begishevo (IATA code - NBC) is located in Nizhnekamsk, 50 kilometers from Yelabuga (airport on the map). This airport is considered the airport of Naberezhnye Chelny, through it and the bridge over the Kama River to Yelabuga and leads the way from the airport. From Begishevo airport to Yelabuga you can get directly only by taxi from 1000 rubles, or with a transfer in Naberezhnye Chelny. It is impossible to get directly to Elabuga by train, but the nearest station is not far away, in Naberezhnye Chelny (railway station on the map). From there you can take bus 114 or taxi. Transport in Yelabuga, what to move
The city is small, and most of it can be bypassed on foot. Also in the city there is a public transport network of buses (minibuses), on which you can move around the city itself, and go to Naberezhnye Chelny. The most popular route-No. 114, passes through the center of Yelabuga and then on the bridge over the Kama goes to Naberezhnye Chelny, where it stops near the railway and bus station, and goes along the main street of the city. Sights Of Yelabuga
Yelabuga will surprise even the most seasoned tourist with a considerable number of attractions. Such a small town owes such a number of interesting places to its long history, which has more than 1000 years. There is even a kind of tourist street Kazanskaya, along which most of the museums, architectural attractions, monuments and religious sites are concentrated.
The main attraction of the city and its calling card is Chertovo settlement-an ancient monument of settlement of The Times of the Bulgarian state. And although this place is not the most spectacular, only one tower has survived, it is necessary to visit it at least in order to see the panorama from the hill to the city and the Kama River. In general, in Yelabuga there is a whole Yelabuga state historical, architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, which includes almost all the museums of the city. You can visit them separately, or purchase a single ticket with excursions to visit all places at once for 1000 rubles for an adult, 700 rubles for schoolchildren, students and pensioners. But it is much more convenient and economical to order a pedestrian sightseeing tour of the historical streets for 1500 rubles. By the way, keep in mind that all Yelabuga museums have a day off on Monday, so for the sake of attractions on this day you should not go here.
After the sightseeing tour, you can continue your independent acquaintance with the history and culture of the city, which is best to start at the Yelabuga History Museum. There you can also have lunch in the Museum-Theater "Tavern". Nearby you can visit the exhibition halls of Applied and contemporary art, and then go down to the embankment Street, where you can visit the Shishkin Museum of the artist and walk through the Shishkin Ponds Park. A whole memorial complex of several museums and memorable places of Yelabuga is connected with another great person – the poetess Marina Tsvetaeva. She spent the last days of her life in the city, and visiting at least one of the museums of the memorial complex is simply a must-visit.
Do not forget about such beautiful sights as temples and mosques, which abound in Yelabuga. It is worth seeing with your own eyes the Pokrovsky Cathedral, The Cathedral in the name of the Savior not made with hands, the Spassky Cathedral, the Jamig Mosque, the Al-Qadir mosque, etc. Well, during a walk along Kazanskaya street, do not forget to pay attention to modern unusual sculptures to the signalman and the postman, a monument to the janitor and a monument to the samovar.
