What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The V.M.Bekhterev Museum of County Medicine is the only such museum in Russia. It is located in a historic building of 1881, where there used to be a hospital, and is dedicated to the history of zemstvo (village pre-revolutionary) medicine since the XVIII century. A whole section is devoted to the activities and biography of the famous Russian psychiatrist Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev, whose birthplace is the village of Sarali (now the village of Bekhterevo) near Yelabuga. Also, the setting of the treatment room of that time, the operating room, and the pharmacy are recreated here.
Despite the seemingly narrow specifics of this museum, in fact it is interesting, and we definitely recommend visiting it. It is especially interesting to get acquainted with it using the audio guide in the iziTravel application, you can download it by QR code at the entrance to the museum. Just do not forget the headphones so as not to disturb other visitors.
