Chirkhalyu Waterfall (Chvakhilo) is a little-known waterfall in Dagestan, it is visited by rare tourists, but no one who has seen it has remained indifferent to it. Impressive is not only the powerful water flow itself, but also the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, hills and rivers.
The name of the waterfall in translation from the local dialect means "thundering" or "falling" water. This is actually the case. Formed from a glacier, the Chirkhalu waterfall in a rapid stream breaks from a 50-meter height and falls down with a strong roar. This sound is carried for more than one kilometer around. In addition, outwardly it is also unique – a stream of water passes among the stones, so that it hides part of the powerful stream from view. In terms of strangeness, it is not inferior to the most famous Saltinsky waterfall.
How to visit
Chirkhalu is located on the territory of the Charodinsky Reserve on the Oisor River, recently the entrance here has become paid. Since the place is not popular and far from the main attractions, it is possible to visit it only by car from nearby villages, preferably from Gunib. You will have to allocate half a day for a trip here.

🚶 How to get there
Chirkhalyu waterfall is located near the village of Ritlyab, Charodinsky district (waterfall on the map). It is 60 kilometers from Gunib to the waterfall, first on asphalt, and after the village of Tsurib on a rocky primer, it gets worse closer to the waterfall, there are large sharp stones. Most cars can be driven easily. At the entrance to the waterfall there will be a bridge over the river, near which you can stop the car and walk a little.
