What sights are there in Kaspiysk and what to see?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to call Kaspiysk an interesting city in terms of attractions even with a big stretch, because there is absolutely nothing to see here. Therefore, if you can't imagine a vacation without going to museums and walking around historical sites, then it's better to choose Derbent for recreation, because it can be safely called the tourist capital of Dagestan. For more information about Derbent and what to see there, read our separate guide.
But if you are already here on vacation, then for you we have compiled a selection of locations in Kaspiysk, where you can go and what to do in the city. But it is quite small, see it below.
Fortunately, there are a lot of wonderful and interesting places all over Dagestan that can be visited as an independent day trip or with an excursion from Kaspiysk. At a minimum, these are the Sarykum dune, the Sulak Canyon, the Chirkey reservoir, the Gamsutl ghost village, ancient Derbent, the Goor and the troll language, the underground Saltinsky waterfall, and so on. But these are only the most "top" places, but in fact you can go as a day trip, you can go to almost any attraction in Dagestan. Open our map of Dagestan with points of interest, study and choose what is most interesting to you. However, just in case, we note once again that all the most interesting things in the Republic are located in mountainous areas, and it's best to go there for a few days.
Unfortunately, organized tourism is still poorly developed here, as is public transport. Therefore, it is best to go to Dagestan on vacation in your car. If this is not possible, you will have to buy group tours or individual tours by car with private guides. You can find excursions online on aggregator sites with reviews, or you can contact private guides in our live tours of Dagestan here:

Caspian Museum of Local Lore
This is the only museum in Kaspiysk, which, on the one hand, cannot be ignored, but on the other hand there is not much to see here. Despite the huge building of the museum, most of it is occupied by administrative buildings or simply empty, and only a few halls are allocated for the exhibitions themselves. And these halls, by and large, are almost empty.
We sincerely wish the development of this museum and its employees, but the fact that you are unlikely to spend more than 20 minutes here remains a fact. The only thing that saves this tiny museum and allows you to get at least some interesting information here is tour support for an additional fee. Learn more about the museum here.

This is a very large-scale spectacle with the participation of warships, aircraft, auxiliary vessels and boats, during which there is a demonstration of artillery weapons, multiple launch rocket systems and the like. To watch the parade on the Kaspiysk embankment, stands are installed, but even if you don't get to them, you can just as well watch it from anywhere on the shore.
