What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The Muni Watchtower is one of the well–preserved images of the ancient defensive structures of Dagestan, used to monitor the possible approach of the enemy, protect the villagers and transmit signals to other towers in line of sight. The Munin tower dates back to about the XVII century.
It cannot be said that this is a necessary and worthwhile place to visit, because, unfortunately, it is impossible to get inside the tower, inspection is possible only from the outside. However, if you drive through Muni, you can deviate a little from the route to walk around the village and walk to the tower.

🚶 How to get there
The tower is located in the mountainous part of Dagestan in the village of Muni in the Botlikhsky district (Mooney Tower on the map). It is about 140 kilometers from Makhachkala and 60 kilometers from Khunzakh. It is convenient to visit the tower on the route from Dagestan to Chechnya or back through Botlikh with a visit to Lake Kezenoyam. An acceptable asphalt road leads to the village, but from Khunzakh you will have to drive several tens of kilometers along a difficult mountain dirt road. But it will not be possible to get directly to the tower by car. You will have to drive through the village along Tsentralnaya Street, find a parking space there, and then cross the river on a pedestrian bridge and walk to the tower along the river. The tower can be seen from anywhere in the village, it is located on the mountain.
