Canumantad Falls (Can-umantad) is the highest and one of the most impressive waterfalls in Bohol. It is located in a non-tourist part of Bohol far from the main resort of Alona Beach, it will take 4 hours to get there. But it is definitely worth a visit, especially since its visit can be combined with a trip to the Chocolate Hills, although it is further from them almost two hours away. It is also convenient to visit from the resort Anda.
So, this is a very high and picturesque waterfall, located in wild places among forests and rice fields. At its foot is a natural swimming pool for swimming and diving. A little further down the river there are a few more secluded pools. Around the waterfall there are rice fields in the form of terraces, and this is one of the few places on Bohol where you can see Rice Terraces similar to those in Indonesia or Vietnam, at least we (the authors of the site) did not meet them anywhere else on the island. These rice fields are also a tourist attraction, and are called Cadapdapan Rice Terraces. You can visit them separately or walk through them on your way to the waterfall (see below for directions). Another place to visit during a trip to this part of the island is the swimming Springs Canawa Cold Spring, which are just a few kilometers from the waterfall.

🚶 How to get there
Canumantad waterfall is located 120 kilometers from Alona Beach in Candijay village (waterfall on the map). You can get here only by rented transport, taxi-tricycle or with an individual tour, group tours are not carried here.
Get from Alona Beach and Tagbilaran can be reached by one of two routes, but it is best to combine, i.e. to get there one way, and return the other:
- Through the Chocolate Hills. On this road you can visit many attractions in Loboc (Loboc) and Bilar (Bilar), make a stop at the observation deck. Chocolate Hills, and then continue to the waterfall. But you should leave early in the morning to have time to see everything, and return before dark. For guidance, if you visit along the way Dolgopyatov Reserve, the double bamboo bridge, pangas falls, and The Hill Lookout the road to Canumantad will take 7 hours in one direction. But this is not a complete list of interesting places that can be visited along this route.
- On the ring road along the coast. This is a longer, but also faster route, since the road is flat and flat, you can accelerate well. In addition, you will not make stops at attractions. You can overcome it in 3 hours. On the way it will be possible to make a stop only in Jagne (Jagna, pronounced Jagna) at the family-owned Filipino dessert factory Calamai, which is a local landmark. Even if you can't visit the factory, make a stop along the road and buy fresh Calamai and vendors from the stalls.
When you arrive directly in the area of Canumantad falls, you can visit all three attractions nearby: the waterfall itself, Cadapdapan Rice Terraces (terraces on the map) and sources of Canawa Cold Spring (map sources).
The waterfall itself can be reached in two ways: on a new asphalt road or on foot through rice fields. In 2019, a good asphalt road was built here, which will lead you directly to the ticket office for the waterfall. The road, though new, but winding and dangerous, be careful. Another way, in our opinion, is more interesting, passes through rice fields. To do this, you need to drive to the Rice Terrace Cafe Cadapdapan Rice Terraces, pay 20 pesos for admission there, and walk to the waterfall through the fields, which will take 20-30 minutes.
