Description and is it worth visiting
The Telecommunications Museum (Muzium Telekom) is located in the tourist center, within walking distance of Chinatown and Petaling Street. It indeed has high ratings and many reviews on Google Maps, so we decided to check it out. But, frankly speaking, we left disappointed.
The exhibition turned out to be very small, occupying only two adjacent halls. Among the exhibits are old communication equipment: telegraph machines, old telephones, cross-connect equipment, typewriters. Essentially, nothing that the older generation hasn't seen in everyday life. There are no sections on computer communication or modern means of communication at all. The exhibition ends abruptly and somewhat chaotically.
Given the not-so-low ticket price, we cannot recommend visiting this museum. Unless you've already seen absolutely everything in Kuala Lumpur and don't know what to do with yourself. But even in that case, in our opinion, it's better to just walk around Chinatown or have a coffee.
🕐 Opening hours
The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
💵 Admission / ticket price
Entrance ticket for foreign tourists: adults — 8 MYR (2.02 USD), children 4–12 years old — 4 MYR (1.01 USD).
🚶 How to get there
The Telecommunications Museum is located near the tourist area of Chinatown on Jalan Raja Chulan (telekom museum on the map). You can walk from noisy Petaling Street in about 10 minutes (about 700 meters). If you're coming from other areas, the nearest metro station is Masjid Jamek, also a 5-10 minute leisurely walk away.
