Exhibition at the National Textile Museum: from fabric samples to costumes

Description and is it worth visiting

The National Textile Museum (Muzium Tekstil Negara) is located in a historic building — an architectural monument from the colonial era, right on Independence Square. Inside, there are two floors, and although the museum is specialized, in terms of attendance and reviews, it is among the top museums in Kuala Lumpur. The exhibition details the fabric production process, different types of patterns and methods of applying them, including the traditional batik technique.

Display cases exhibit fabrics, drawings, accessories, jewelry, clothing, and costumes of various ethnic groups in Malaysia. There are also interactive exhibits and temporary thematic exhibitions. All exhibits have captions, including in English, so it's easy to understand.

We visited this museum, and we can definitely say that overall it's a worthwhile place, especially for women. And given the symbolic cost, we can confidently recommend you visit it too, if you have an extra half hour during a walk around the Merdeka Square Independence Square complex.

The museum building itself is an attraction
