Description and is it worth visiting
The National Museum (National Museum, Muzium Negara or Jalan Damasara) can confidently be called the most important museum in Malaysia. It is dedicated to the country's history from ancient times to its achievements in the modern world. The museum's four halls are dedicated to different eras, and it's recommended to view them sequentially. Sometimes, thematic open-air exhibitions and shows are held near the museum, where everyone is invited for free. We happened to catch one such performance — traditional dances added a bright touch to the experience.
If you had to choose just one museum to visit from among the attractions in Kuala Lumpur, we would recommend visiting this one. However, don't expect Hermitage-scale exhibits: compared even to some provincial Russian museums, the National Museum of Malaysia looks quite modest. You can see everything here in 30-60 minutes, though it's worth noting that the entrance fee is symbolic. I personally spent about an hour — enough to get a general idea of Malaysia's history and culture without getting tired.

🚶 How to get there
Getting to the National Museum by public transport is not straightforward, as the nearest metro station, KL Sentral, is about a kilometer away, and you'll have to walk along a tricky multi-level road interchange (National Museum on the map). We advise turning on your phone's navigator — this reduces the chance of getting lost in the passages. Another option is to take the free GO KL tourist bus on the red line directly to the museum.
