Valley Of Ghosts it is located on the slopes of Mount Demerdzhi in the vicinity of Alushta. This is one of the most interesting natural sights of Alushta, and just a must-visit. In this place, Nature has created unusual stone formations that resemble the outlines of people and animals. With a good imagination, you can see the heads and faces of people, the outlines of animals and fantastic creatures, there is even the head of the Sphinx. Unusual sights are created not only by the stone figures themselves, but also by their shadows. They say that if you watch them longer, you can see ghosts, which is why this place got its name. The best time to see the shadows is an hour and a half before sunset.
The valley, as the name suggests, is not a plain at all. The figures are on the mountainside, and to see them, you need to climb a narrow winding path between trees and stones. Special training for lifting is not required, but comfortable shoes and a little dexterity will come in handy. Also do not forget to take water with you, you will not be able to buy it here, nothing is for sale.
Entrance to the valley is paid, 60 rubles. The ticket seller at the entrance will talk about the route and give recommendations for inspection. Immediately at the entrance there is the famous nut of Yuri Nikulin and the stone that were used in the filming of the film The Caucasian captive. Then you can go up to the valley along the path marked with arrows, see some of the figures and go back down (about 1 hour round trip); you can continue further up to a spacious, sunlit Glade (about 2 hours round trip), or, bypassing the Glade, go to the top of South Demerdzhi (1239m.); from the Glade you can continue along a difficult and slightly dangerous path further to the top of South Demerdzhi and to the jurla waterfall, and then go down to the village of Lucistoe along the "cow trail" (route for 6-12 hours).
And yet, we recommend combining a trip to the valley with a visit to the fortress of Funa, because they are very close.
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, but for safety reasons, visit Strictly during daylight hours; the best time to view the figures in the valley is before sunset, an hour and a half in advance.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: 60 rubles adult / 30 rubles child / 150 rubles car entrance. You can get into the Valley and free of charge bypassing the entrance from other trails, or climb from the village of Lucistoe along the "cow trail" and go into the valley from the other side, leaving through the entrance.
🚶 How to get there: The Valley Of Ghosts is located near the village of Lucistoe in the vicinity of Alushta (ghost Valley entrance on the map. You can get here as part of group excursions from anywhere in the Crimea, but you can easily organize a trip yourself. It is best to get here from Alushta, because the only bus to the village goes from here, but you can get to the turn to the village on the Simferopol-Alushta highway by any bus or trolleybus, and then on foot or by hitchhiking 3-4 kilometers).
From Alushta from the bus stop across the street from the exit of the bus station daily to 06:50, 8:00, 11:00, 13:10, 14:25, 16:25, 18:20 the bus departs, the journey takes 30 minutes, the cost is 27 rubles (back from Radiant they go to 07:00, 08:10, 10:40, 12:20, 15:00, 17:40). Then the bus goes through the city, picks up passengers on Sovetskaya Square, and goes to Radiant. It is better to get first to the bus station, and then take the bus, because in the center of the seat may not be enough.
In Radiant, it is better not to go to the terminal in the center of the village, but at the stop near the stable, for which you should ask the driver to make a stop "near the stable, to the valley of ghosts", and he will drop you off where you need. Here you can buy a horse tour to the valley from 1200 rubles, or continue on foot through the stable on the trail (about 30 minutes). The trail will take you to a large open Glade where you can visit the Fortress of Funa, and there is also the entrance to the Valley Of Ghosts nearby.
On your transport it is better to go to the center of the village of Lucistoe, and then along the dirt road to the open Glade, where the entrance to the Valley and the fortress of Funa is located. But in rainy weather on a car on a primer it is better not to meddle.
