Railway station in Derbent is one of the most beautiful in Russia and the Caucasus. The building stands out from the surrounding buildings with its unusual architecture. It is simply impossible to pass by and not admire. This operating transport facility is located in the city center.
The station was built in 1899, and about a year before that the first steam locomotive arrived here. A remarkable fact! This railway station was visited by Emperor Nicholas II in 1914. He dined here on boiled potatoes with herring.
Here, on the territory of the 1st floor in one of the former waiting rooms in July 2017, the Museum of Railway History or the Room of Labor and Military Glory of the Derbent railway junction was organized. By visiting it you will learn about the history of the railway. There are more than 200 exhibits on display in the spacious hall, ranging from various units to photographs.
