Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory or DZIV is one of the oldest producers of sparkling and still wines in Dagestan in Russia. It is wine drinks that are produced here, and in our country this brand is known to everyone, because no celebration takes place without a bottle of Derbent champagne, especially the New Year.

Still wines are not sparkling drinks like champagne, they do not contain carbon dioxide.

Travelers to Dagestan are interested not only in culture and nature, but also in the opportunity to taste local dishes and, of course, alcohol. How to come to Dagestan and not drink locally produced wine? You can appreciate and choose a drink only by trying it. This can only be done at a factory that produces various types of wine drinks, and the Derbent sparkling wine factory is the best option. Here you will see the full production cycle from manufacturing to bottling. The range of sparkling and quiet wines produced is small, just a little more than 20 items, including sparkling wines, dry red, white and semi-sweet wines.

History of the plant

Derbent sparkling wine factory was built in 1895, although its foundation was laid long before construction. The mild climate and the features of the relief served as the main and best conditions for the development of winemaking in Southern Dagestan. The first winery in Derbent was organized by Peter I at the royal court in the middle of the XVIII century, and on an industrial scale, winemaking began here by the middle of the XIX century. A large reduction in vineyard areas and a deterioration in the quality of beverages occurred in 1985, after the adoption of the infamous "Prohibition Law", when the fight against drunkenness was waged. This period dragged on for decades and only since 2009, winemaking in Derbent has begun to revive again and is today one of the priority industries.
