Bohol is a Big Island, but there are not as many beaches on it as many tourists and travelers expect to see. Most of the coast of the island is rocky, and even very prone to low tide. Objectively, there are very few good places for swimming, as well as developed resorts with infrastructure.
The best and most popular beaches of Bohol are actually not on its coast, but on the small island of Panglao, which is the main tourist center of the province of Bohol, and is connected to the Big Island by two bridges. It is on Panglao that the most popular and developed tourist resort is located - Alona Beach, and if you are for the first time on the island and are not specifically looking for places away from the trampled tourist trails, then it is best to choose Alona as a holiday destination. But if you are looking for something special, then there are such beaches and resorts.
In the Russian travel blogger space, there is a misconception that the tides depend on the time of day. In fact, this is not so, and it is never possible to say unequivocally, for example, that at a particular resort there are tides in the morning and ebbs in the evenings. To determine the level of tides on Bohol, special calculation algorithms based on statistical data are used.
Here is an overview of the beaches and resorts directly on the island of Bohol (without Panglao). If you decide to stay in Panglao, then read separately our overview of the beaches of Panglao.
Anda Beach
Anda is a small town and a new developing resort, where there are several beaches at once, but the best and largest of them is Quinale Beach (Quinale Beach, aka Anda White Long Beach). In general, it is considered to radiate directly on Bohol, and we (the authors of the site) fully agree with this.
It is located in the very center of the Andes, stretches for about a kilometer, and then after a small rocky area continues for another kilometer. Like the rest of the beaches, it is affected by the tides and there are algae under the water, but at high tide it is simply a paradise. Here you can stay in a hotel, snorkeling and diving, because this is a full-fledged Beach Resort. see about Anda in detail here...
Cutcutan Uyat Beach (Cutcutan White Beach)
A great sandy beach, which only the locals know about, they told us about it. The length of about a kilometer, located in the Bay, on the shore of beautiful palm trees. Moderately clean, mostly only natural garbage. Tourists were not seen here, as well as options for tourist accommodation. But it is possible to stay nearby in the town of Valencia.
Santa Fe Beach
A good public sandy beach with gazebos, toilets, even a kind of Cafe. But very shallow, it is impossible to swim near the shore even at high tide. This, of course, is very good for children, but for adults to plunge into the water, you have to walk 100 meters from the shore.
Can - uba Beach in Jagna
The city of Jagna is primarily known among tourists as a port city, but there is a very pleasant multi-kilometer beach, conveniently located in a Bay on the outskirts of the city. And this is a Pebble Beach, the only one in Bohol. On the beach of Kan Uba pebbles are small, mixed with sand. And these are not sharp stones, as on the rest of the coast of the island, but smooth rounded pebbles. There are no accommodation options here, the nearest city where you can stay is Jagna.
Lintu-an Beach
A wild and remote beach in Lun village. There is nothing of infrastructure and close, but only a wide strip of sand (about 100 meters), fishing boats and a huge number of small crabs. You can come here during the day to relax on the beach in the wild, and there is nowhere to stay nearby at all, if only to rent a house in the village from local residents.
At first glance it looks very shallow, but that's because of the very wide strip of sand. In fact, it is worth going into the water and walking 20 meters from the shore, as the depth quickly increases. But the bottom here is littered with stones and coral fragments, you definitely need shoes for swimming.
Palo Beach
Palo Beach on maps and descriptions is also called Hinawanan Beach, and sometimes also Clarin Beach. Very, very shallow even at high tide, and at low tide on most of the coast is not very pleasant mud and algae. To buy, you have to go from the shore for 100 meters and even more.
To relax on this beach (do you need it?), you can stay in the town of Loay (Loay) in one of several hotels.
Beaches in Baclayon (Baclayon Beach)
The city of Baclayon is, in our opinion, the third most popular place to stop in Bohol after Panglao and Tagbilaran. There are several hotels, a beach, a marina to Pamilakan Island and a couple of attractions (18th century church and Museum). The only reason to stay here is to go to the island of Pamilakan to see dolphins.
But as for the beaches, the coast in Baklayon is mostly rocky. And even if at high tide the beach in some places looks more or less decent, then at low tide you will see stones, debris and algae on the shore. And the cleanliness of the beach does not please, no one cleans it. Mostly locals rest here, there are few tourists.
