What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Vityazevsky estuary is a shallow salt lake with a layer of therapeutic mud at the bottom, which is considered therapeutic. Deposits of mud cover the bottom and shores of the reservoir, and are used by tourists and locals for cosmetic and therapeutic procedures, and all this is free for now. By the way, the salt water of the lake (called brine) is also considered curative, but in a much less pronounced form. It is impossible to swim in the lake, it is too shallow, but you can lie on the water for fun, because it is impossible to drown in it because of the increased density. But be careful when entering the water, as a layer of silt and mud can suck in.
Mud procedures on the shore can be carried out independently. To do this, you need to find mining sites on the shore, or go into the water and extract dirt from the bottom under a layer of silt. Just do not confuse ordinary silt and mud with real therapeutic mud: it smells of hydrogen sulfide (the smell of rotten eggs) and has a rich black color. Smear the joints and sore spots with the extracted dirt, and wash it off after 15 minutes. The most convenient and developed places with mud are located at the exit to the shore opposite Limannaya Street and Kurgan Street, but there are others.
In general, doctors do not recommend self-medication with mud, but if you decide to do it yourself, be careful. Follow the following safety and usage rules:
- Do not apply dirt to the whole body in one procedure at once: it is recommended to apply it to the limbs and joints, avoid applying it to the heart, neck and head;
- After application, you need to wait until it dries, after which it needs to be washed off, usually no more than 15-20 minutes;
- Try not to let dirt get into your mouth, nose, eyes;
- Repeat the "mud treatment" no earlier than the next day;
- Monitor your well-being, and if you feel unwell (headache, burning on the skin, increased pressure), it is better to stop the procedures.
