How to get to Nizhny Novgorod
Nizhny Novgorod is conveniently located in the Central part of Russia, and you can reach it easily by plane, train, bus, car, and even on the boat. Next, about all the ways to get to Nizhny Novgorod:
On the plane
The city is the Strigino international airport where flights from many cities of Russia and from abroad. Regular direct flights available, at least from Moscow (Domodedovo airport, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo), St.-Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Surgut, and Nizhnekamsk. Also, the airport operates air taxi company Dexter, a small aircraft providing easy access to the airport and neighboring regions. From other regions convenient flights are available with a stopover in Moscow. How to get from Nizhniy Novgorod airport to the city
The airport is on the outskirts of the city, only 18 kilometers from the city center (airport map).
Very cheap to get from the airport to the center by public transport: buses № 11, 20; route taxi №№ t29, т46. The fare is 20 rubles, in the path of 30-60 minutes. For tourists the most convenient route т46 because it is almost in the tourist centre of the city to the square of Liadov and further along the street Belinsky (see т46 route on the map). Other routes 11, 20, and t29 is less convenient, but they can get to the metro station "Park of Culture". Unfortunately, public transport is not very often, and it makes sense to use a taxi.
A taxi ordered at the Desk at the airport will cost from 500 rubles to the centre (pay by meter). You can get cheaper if you order city taxi by phone or use the Yandex.taxi, for example. In Nizhny Novgorod is the train/railway station "Moskovsky Vokzal", which can be reached from most regions of Russia. With the capital the Lower is connected by high-speed trains "swift" (3 hours and 50 minutes) and Swallow (4 hours), and also many conventional trains (7 hours). Also from this station you can take the suburban trains (s-Bahn) in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Railway station is in the centre of the city (but not in a tourist area), at the Revolution square, the house 2, (railway station on the map). Near the station is the metro station "Moskovskaya", is a large number of routes of buses, trolleybuses, trams, which go in different places of the city, including many routes to the tourist area. Fastest to the tourist area can be reached by metro to the station "Gorkovskaya", and further on to street Big Pokrovsk and most hotels can be reached on foot or short taxi ride.

In Nizhny Novgorod can be reached by intercity buses from all nearby regions, Moscow, St. Petersburg. Buses are slower than trains, cheaper, and less comfortable, but they can get including from towns where trains don't go. For reference, the bus ride from Moscow will cost 600-1000 rubles depending on the carrier.
In Nizhny Novgorod, the buses arrive and depart from two bus stations:
- Bus station "Shcherbinka" (PR. 234a, station on the map). This is the main bus station of the city. Located on the outskirts in the South, to get from here to the historic centre is quite long. Almost all public transport from here to the centre.
- Bus station "Sennaya" (ul .Most of the caves, 84, station on the map ). From this station leave several commuter buses in the Nizhny Novgorod region, including in Kstovo aquapark "Atoll". The centre can be reached on foot or by bus №№ 4, 40, 45, 52, 90, taxi №№ T2, T24, T40, T45, t57, T60, T85, T90, kzt97 т98.
The previous bus station on the square "m" is closed. Also some buses are in transit through the city, and drop passengers right on the square in front of railway station (Revolution square, 5A).

On a cruise ship.
In Nizhny Novgorod it is possible to get on a cruise boat along the Volga from Moscow, Samara, Kazan, Astrakhan and other cities. There are cruises one-way, i.e. you can swim to the Bottom and go.
