Moalboal snorkeling

Article and Section Navigation

Description and is it worth a visit

Moalboal snorkeling - this is perhaps the second reason after diving, for which it is worth going to this resort. After all, if you can not afford diving or are not very interested in it, then everyone can swim with a mask here, and even for free. The local waters are very rich in marine life, and the water itself is transparent most of the year, which allows you to watch exotic colored fish already 20 meters from the shore, and if you are lucky, you can see sea turtles, it all depends on the season. Even local waters are known for flocks of sardines, which can be observed at the very edge of the coral reef, leaving a vertical wall 20-30 meters from the shore.

For snorkeling you can use your equipment, or rent on site. It is highly recommended to use aqua shoes (coral slippers), which can be bought here in the shops on the main street, or in the Gaisano Grand shopping center in the center Moalboal, cost 500 pesos (8.09 USD), or also to rent. Without them, you can not only injure your feet on sharp stones or corals, but also step on a sea urchin. Rental prices are the same everywhere: mask with a tube, fins, shoes – corals) - all for 100 pesos (1.62 USD, see Philippine currency and exchange rate). But you can bargain if you take a full set or for several people.

While swimming, there is a chance to meet with jellyfish. They are not deadly, but from contact there are burns and burning. To extinguish it, you can use vinegar or lemon juice, ask them in a cafe on the shore. There is also sometimes a problem with burning plankton. To suffer less from meeting with jellyfish and plankton, you can swim in clothes, preferably synthetic.

Snorkeling

Attention! During snorkeling, in any case, do not walk on the bottom, try to swim immediately starting from the shore. Corals die very quickly after damage caused to them while walking on the bottom, and you can see for yourself: a lot of corals here are dead. If you don't know how to snorkel on your own so as not to damage the underwater life, it's best to hire an instructor for the first time. And do not be lazy to remind this to numerous tourists from China and Korea, who, in principle, for the most part do not swim, but only walk on the bottom.

🕐 Working hours

Snorkeling is best in the morning and in the morning, although you can see a lot after lunch.

💵Entrance fee / ticket price

You can dive for FREE near the shore, go with a group tour to the island of Pescador from 2000 pesos (32.38 USD), or hire a boat for a group. Renting a mask and tube will cost 100 pesos (1.62 USD), life jacket (if you can not swim) - another 50 pesos (0.81 USD).
