Kanlaon Volcano is the highest mountain on Negros Island, and the third most active volcano in the Philippines. Its height is 2,465 meters. The volcano is located in the North Negros Island 50 kilometers from Bacolod and 176 kilometers from Dumaguete (Kanlaon on the map). It is easiest to get to it as part of ready-made sightseeing tours, which can be bought at travel agencies in Dumagueta, Bacolod, Cebu island, or via the Internet. The cost of such tours starts from 8000 pesos, and includes transport, hotel accommodation the night before the ascent, bivouac equipment, guide services and so on, depending on the program. But you can also save a lot if you come to Bacolod yourself, register and get permission to visit the headquarters (coordinates and contacts here - https://www.facebook.com/MountKanlaon/), after which you can go to one of the two starting points of the route in Canloan City or Guintubdan, and there are options for accommodation before the climb . All information about the route will be provided to you there. At the entrance to the National Park you will need to hire a guide, you can not climb yourself.
Whichever option you choose, you need to book an excursion in advance, preferably several months in advance. Even for self-registration at headquarters, it is necessary to contact them in advance, request dates (up to 3 months in advance), and after approval, already stay in place. But keep in mind that even after approval, the volcano may close due to activity.
