Airport fees in the Philippines and do tourists need to pay them?

In Philippine airports, there is an Airport Terminal Fee fee, which passengers must additionally pay when departing on international or domestic flights. However, do not confuse the Airport Terminal Fee with the 1620 peso tax on leaving the country (Travel Fee) for Filipino citizens and residents, it is not necessary to pay tourists.

Airport Terminal Fee applies only to departures, there is no need to pay anything on arrival. If you have an international transit flight, the fee is also not paid. Children up to and including 2 years old are also exempt from payment.

The amount of the fee varies at different airports, and ranges from 400 to 850 pesos. In some airports it is already included in the ticket price, and in some it will have to be paid in cash in pesos, dollars or by credit card before departure after check-in. To do this, you need to go to a special counter with a boarding pass after check-in, pay, and you will be stamped on the boarding pass. Without this stamp, you will not be allowed to board. Given this, do not forget to leave the required amount in local currency or small dollar bills.
