Will a screenshot of a crypto wallet or a crypto exchange statement work instead of a bank statement for a Thailand visa?

No, it will not work. Neither a screenshot of a crypto wallet, nor a crypto exchange statement, nor a brokerage or investment account statement is accepted for a Thai tourist visa (TR). Certificates of the value of real estate, a car, or other property also will not work. The consulate needs to be convinced not that you have some assets, but that you have real available funds that you can legally use during your trip.

For the consul, crypto, stocks, and real estate are not "live" money. Even if your wallet holds an amount several times greater than required, a screenshot from a smartphone screen or an export from an exchange account proves nothing: such things are easy to fake, and it is impossible to prove that these funds are really yours and available for spending. That is why only a statement or certificate from a regular bank account is accepted.

Important! No statements from brokerage or investment accounts, scans of crypto wallets, or certificates of the value of immovable or movable property will work for the visa. What is needed is specifically a bank statement showing available money in the account.

How much should be in the account: the official guideline is at least 20,000 baht per person or 40,000 baht per family. The account currency does not matter; any currency is accepted and converted at the current exchange rate, but it is better to show the amount with a buffer — the more available money, the higher the chances of approval. It is advisable to attach a statement not for a single date, but with fund movements over the last 3 months — this shows that the money did not appear "for one day."

A couple more practical points. The statement must be in English (or with a notarized translation) and with a bank seal. At most Russian banks now such a statement can be obtained free of charge directly in the app or online banking — look for an item like "statement for visa"; for example, it is available at T-Bank, Sber, and Alfa-Bank. Some banks do not provide this service online and send you to a branch for a paid certificate — this should be taken into account in advance, not on the last day before submission.

Lifehack: if all your money "lives" in crypto, take care of this in advance — transfer the required amount to a regular bank card or account a couple of months before submission so that the statement shows real fund movement. Then the consul will have no questions. We discussed exchange rates and ways of handling money in Thailand in the article about money and currency in Thailand.

And one more thing: all visa documents are uploaded to the official website thaievisa.go.th in PDF or JPEG format up to 3 MB. It is better to show real and prepaid tickets and hotel bookings — you can book a hotel or tickets in advance, for example via Trip.com (accepts Russian cards) or 12go.asia (tickets for buses, trains, and ferries across Asia).

You can learn more in our reliable and honest guide in the article Tourist visa to Thailand (TR): how to apply on your own — there we discussed in detail all document requirements, a step-by-step instruction with screenshots, and a list of banks that issue a visa statement free of charge. We recommend reading it before submitting so you do not get rejected because of an unsuitable certificate.
