Answer (changed )

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) consists of two terminals: KLIA1 and KLIA2. The difference between them lies in the types of airlines they serve:

  • KLIA1 (Terminal 1): Handles all international and domestic flights of full-service (non-budget) airlines, such as Malaysia Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and others.
  • KLIA2 (Terminal 2): Serves exclusively low-cost carriers (budget airlines). Flights from AirAsia, Scoot, Cebu Pacific, and similar airlines arrive here.

You can find out which terminal you arrive at when purchasing your ticket or on your itinerary receipt.

Good news for travelers: In practice, there is almost no difference for traveling to the city. All transport (buses, taxis, airport express) starts from KLIA1 and stops at KLIA2. Fares are the same, and the schedule difference is only a few minutes. So don't worry if you arrive at KLIA2 β€” getting to the city is just as easy.

Both terminals are modern and convenient. If you need to transfer from one terminal to another, a free shuttle train (which is also part of the KLIA Transit airport express) runs between them.
