At Kuala Lumpur Airport (both terminals, KLIA and KLIA2), immediately after exiting the arrival area, there are official counters of telecom operators where you can buy a local tourist SIM card. This is profitable and convenient, as the prices at the counters are the same as those of operators in the city, without any markup.

What they offer: Most often, they sell SIM cards from operators like TuneTalk, Celcom, Maxis. For example, for 35 ringgit (about 664 rubles), you can buy a package valid for a month with more than 100 GB of internet traffic. This is more than enough for the entire trip.

How to buy: The procedure is simple: show your passport, choose a tariff, pay. The employee activates the card and inserts it into your phone. After a couple of minutes and a reboot, the internet is already working.

Important nuance: Payment at the counters is accepted only in cash (Malaysian ringgit). Cards are not accepted. Therefore, exchange a small amount in advance or withdraw money from an ATM (Maybank, CIMB) to buy a SIM card immediately upon arrival.

This is the easiest way to leave the airport with working internet to order a taxi via Grab, plan a route, or simply stay connected. For more tips on airport infrastructure, including currency exchange and Wi-Fi, check out our detailed guide: Infrastructure and amenities at Kuala Lumpur Airport.
