Answer (changed )

The cheapest way to get from Kuala Lumpur Airport (KLIA) to the city center is by bus. The fare starts from 15 ringgit, which is several times cheaper than a taxi or airport express.

How it works:

  • Where to board: Buses depart from both airport terminals (KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA2). Follow the "Bus / Coach" signs on the arrival level.
  • Where they go: The main terminal in the city is the KL Sentral transport hub. Some buses may also go to Pudu Sentral station (near Chinatown).
  • Travel time: About 1 to 1.5 hours to KL Sentral, depending on traffic.
  • Frequency: Buses run every 15-30 minutes, approximately until midnight.
  • Buying tickets: Tickets can be purchased directly at the departure platform from the driver or at the ticket office. It is not necessary to buy online in advance.

Important for arrival: Inside KL Sentral building, there are almost no signs to the bus platforms. You need to go down to the lower level (look for escalators down) or ask staff for "Airport Bus". From KL Sentral, you can easily reach any area by metro or taxi.

Alternatives: If you arrive at night, with a lot of luggage, or value time, consider a taxi via the Grab app (more expensive) or the KLIA Ekspres airport express (fast, but costs about 55 ringgit).
