No, ferries to Ko Chang do not run at night. This is a very important point for trip planning. Ferry service between the mainland and the island stops in the evening and resumes only in the morning.

Current ferry operating schedule for 2026 from the main pier Ao Thammachart:

  • First departure from the mainland: around 06:30 in the morning.
  • Last departure from the mainland: 18:30 in the evening.
  • Interval: Ferries run approximately every hour.

Critically important: Plan your journey so that you arrive at the Ao Thammachart pier before 18:00. If you miss the last ferry, you will have to spend the night on the mainland in the city of Trat or its surroundings. There are no facilities for overnight stays at the pier.

Ferry crossing cost:

  • Adult passenger: 80 baht (about $2.2).
  • Motorcycle (motorbike): 80 baht.
  • Car: 120 baht (about $3.3).

The ferry arrives at the island pier Ao Sapparod, where you can immediately take a songthaew (shared taxi) to the desired beach or rent a motorbike.

The ferry is the only connection between Ko Chang and the mainland.

There is another, less convenient pier β€” Centerpoint (Trat Ferry), but it operates on a reduced schedule (approximately until 17:20) and arrives at the remote Dan Kao pier, where it is difficult to find transportation. We recommend using the main Ao Thammachart pier.

Due to this time restriction, it often makes sense to depart from Bangkok or Pattaya early in the morning to ensure you catch the ferry.
