On Ko Chang, there are several elephant farms (camps) where you can ride elephants and interact with them. Here is practical information:

Where the elephant farms are located:

All of them are located near the main road on the west coast of the island, easily accessible by transport.

How much does elephant riding cost:

Prices vary greatly depending on how you organize the visit.

  • Independent visit (cheaper): If you come to the farm yourself (on a rented bike or taxi) and negotiate on the spot, the prices are approximately as follows:
    • Feed an elephant: 100 baht
    • Jungle trekking ride: 300 baht
    • Swimming with a baby elephant and photos: 400 baht
  • Ready-made tour from a hotel or travel agency (more expensive, but with transfer): The cost starts from 1000 baht per person. This price usually includes transfer from the hotel, a program at the farm, and sometimes lunch.

How to get there: The easiest way is to buy a tour from one of the many street travel agencies or your hotel. If you want to save money, rent a motorbike and go independentlyβ€”all farms are well-marked.

Please note: Attitudes towards the conditions of elephant keeping at such farms are ambiguous. If you are interested in a more ethical and nature-close experience of interacting with elephants, it is better to go to specialized sanctuaries in the north of Thailand (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai). On Ko Chang, this is primarily a tourist entertainment.
